The new MacBook Pros are finally here, and if you’re interested in new features packed inside a thinner, lighter body, your wait is over. But prices on the new models are higher—$1,500 won’t even get you all the new features. Meanwhile, Apple’s more affordable laptops didn’t receive updates and have their own flaws.

The Air remains a decent laptop, but the lack of a Retina display and USB-C are real problems. And the 12-inch MacBook’s single USB-C port for charging, display output, and data transfer limits its appeal.

The Asus ZenBook UX310UA is what happens when a practical everyday laptop and an expensive all-aluminium Ultrabook fall in love. It gets you the pricey look and feel of a portable, stylish machine with the features of a workhorse and a price way below that of a rival MacBook.

We’ve seen a few laptops arrive with similar ideals, the Dell Inspiron 13 5000 being the most recent. This one is something special, though. It’s a laptop we can imagine recommending to many people over the next 12 months, and is even better than its ‘predecessor’ the ZenBook UX305 in several respects.

When the world’s first digital computer was completed in 1946 it opened up new vast new worlds of possibility. Still, early computers were only used for limited applications because they could only be programmed in machine code. It took so long to set up problems that they were only practical for massive calculations.

For the first time, real world problems could be quickly and efficiently transformed into machine language, which made them far more practical and useful. In the 1960’s, the market for computers soared.

Late last month, during IFA 2016 in Berlin, Lenovo introduced the Yoga Book, a device the company deemed as the world’s thinnest and lightest 2-in-1 tablet. The biggest selling point is likely the device’s connected halo keyboard, a secondary touchscreen that provides a backlit virtual keyboard.

The surface is made out of textured glass covering a sensitive haptic feedback layer, which allows users to “feel” the keys when typing. The company says the device is now available to pre-order in the U.S. for a starting price of $500.
