While Windows Phone might be called a thing of the past, a Windows Phone OEM named Coship, also known as Moly, has confirmed that it’s planning something unique. The company is working to create a device that runs two operating systems.
This setup will be just like the dual-OS installation in computers. This means that you can select which operating system you wish to boot in. The operating systems being worked upon are Android and Windows 10 Mobile. For the Windows 10 Mobile lovers, it must be an exciting update.
You’ve got to give BlackBerry credit for refusing to die. After the underwhelming launch and life of BB10, the company pledged allegiance to Android, whipped up a strangely cool slider phone, then farmed out production of all new BlackBerrys to external partners. The journey has been difficult to watch at times, but it seems like the transition is starting to pay off. After a pair of all-touch phones, BlackBerry and partner TCL have released the KEYone, heralding the return of the classic candy-bar-with-keyboard design.
The Priv was an ambitious attempt at a flagship, and the DTEK50 and DTEK60 were barely recognizable as part of the line. The KEYone, however, is the first BlackBerry in years to feel, well, like a BlackBerry. Surprise, surprise: It’s a pretty great little phone, too. Fans will be glad to know the KEYone is the best Android-powered BlackBerry to date, but I don’t expect this to move the needle for many others.
Google will probably put the promising but ultimately ill-fated Pixel C tablet out to pasture before too long — it’s been on sale for a year and a half now, after all. But that hasn’t stopped the company from giving the device some attention in Android 7.1.2; users on Reddit as well as 9to5Google have both confirmed the new software update contains a bunch of tweaks for the Pixel C interface. Chief among those is a new multitasking view designed for the tablet’s bigger screen. Instead of the scrolling list of open apps, the Pixel C app switcher now displays a grid of your eight most recent programs.
The rest of the tweaks here are meant to unify the interface with Google’s own Pixel smartphone.
It’s not often a phone is revealed in a green color finish. Or “greenery” to give it full credit. Which, as it so happens, is Pantone’s color of the year 2017. It’s also Huawei’s oh-so-on-trend color for its brand new P10 smartphone.
Yes, ok, so you’re staring at blue version of the device for this review (technically “dazzling blue” in Huawei speak) – but this one is actually the best-looking color of the lot (mystic silver, graphite black and dazzling gold will also join the UK line-up).
There are two personalities on display in Donald Trump’s Twitter feed. One Trump generally spells things correctly, tweets flattering news stories, and politely thanks visitors for meeting with him. The other Trump is easily provoked, capitalizes random words, and lashes out in real time at things that annoy him.
These two genres of tweets generally come from two different devices—an Android phone and an iPhone—and thus presumably from different people.
Cortana has been available on Android for a year now (in the US at least), and Microsoft recently made its virtual assistant even more useful by making it accessible on the lock screen.
Today, however, the company takes things a stage further by making it possible to interact with Cortana above the lock.
Diesel is finally entering the smartwatch field. The fashion label has dabbled in hybrid, connected watches and trackers in recent times but will now release its own Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch in collaboration with the Fossil Group.
Its first watch will be the Diesel On, a touchscreen device with a round AMOLED display and Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor running the show.
Malware has been discovered preinstalled on 36 Android phones belonging to two companies, security software maker Check Point reported on Friday.
Malware Found Preinstalled on Dozens of Android Phones
“In all instances, the malware was not downloaded to the device as a result of the users’ use — it arrived with it,” noted Oren Koriat, a member of Check Point’s Mobile Research Team.
The malicious apps on the phones of a telecommunications company and a multinational technology business were not part of the official ROM supplied by the vendor, he explained. They were added somewhere along the supply chain.
Worried how the recent trove of secret CIA documents affects you and the phone you’re currently using?
With regards to that particular set of bugs, (which describe numerous vulnerabilities in both Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS), iPhone owners are mostly in the clear, but not completely.
According to Apple, “many” of these vulnerabilities have already been patched in the latest version of iOS, and the company is working to “rapidly address” the remaining bugs.
The word overkill doesn’t seem to be in Sony’s vocabulary.
A year and a half after introducing the Xperia Z5 Premium, the world’s first and only smartphone with a 4K display, Sony’s now one-upped itself with the Xperia XZ Premium, the world’s first phone with a 4K HDR screen.
The display’s not the only thing that’s bonkers on the Xperia XZ Premium. The phone’s camera is also the world’s first to be capable of recording slow motion video at a ridiculous 960 frames per second.
